Biography
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduated in 1963 in the studio of Henryk Tomaszewski. He studied painting with Wojciech Fangor. He is primarily engaged in applied graphics, creating posters, book and press illustrations, and designing album covers. His posters, created in the sytlistics of pop art, are distinguished by brightly colored, geometric forms close to comic book aesthetics. Since 1985 he has lived and worked in the United States. Since 2007, the artist has returned to designing posters for Polish theater institutions, including the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw and the Wybrzeze Theater in Gdansk, as well as movie posters. His works have been repeatedly shown at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, the Osaka Biennale of Illustration and exhibitions in London, Stockholm, Paris, Tokyo and Helsinki. Among his favorite motifs besides film is music, primarily jazz. For many years he collaborated with the Jazz Gallery on Hudson St. in SoHo.
