Aleksandra JACHTOMA (b. 1932) - painter, studied in Torun at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Professor Czeslaw Rzepinski, and then at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Professor Kazimierz Tomorowicz, where she received her diploma with honors in 1958. She was a founding member of the Warsaw art group Rekonesans, established in 1963. She was awarded the Prize of the Minister of Art Culture for lifetime achievement (1987), the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Prize and the Jan Cybis Prize of the Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Artists (2003). She has participated in many painting exhibitions, including 30 solo exhibitions. Rated by critics as an outstanding abstractionist, "Jachtoma's paintings are characterized by an impression of depth, spiritual space and richness of color."
