Aleksander LASZENKO (1883-1944). Painter, wood engraver, traveler. He owed his good painting technique to his studies in St. Petersburg, as a graphic artist he used the technique of color woodcut, which he learned in Japan. He made several artistic trips to Morocco, Algiers, Egypt and Tunisia. In his only graphic portfolio, published in 1936, he presented Eastern themes and motifs; the woodcuts contained therein were very popular.
