About the Artist:
ADAM WIDEŁKA - MASTER OF PASTELS The artist was born in 1961 in Będzin. His work is associated with magic realism, hyperrealism, surrealism or fantasy painting. The artist's works can also be included in the trend of metaphorical painting, due to the introduction of characteristic motifs to his portraits, which are an inherent feature of his style, often being an ironic element against the background of the statuesque beauty of his models.
The artist uses an original color technique that blurs the lines in favor of soft lights penetrating the stain. The common denominator of his works is idealized women, and the introduction of illusory and allusive metaphors is emphasized by the titles of the paintings. Another characteristic feature of his work is the creation of three-dimensional elements in the form of paper rips, folds or kinks in the paper. About this artistic procedure Adam Fork said this:
"I love being an illusionist who surprises the viewer with the three-dimensional effects of my pastels. In almost every one of my works there are characteristic rips, folds and kinks in the paper. I rejoice like a child when the viewer lets himself be caught trying to straighten, sometimes even through the glass, the bent cardboard."
For some time now, these tears and folds of paper have been partially replaced by three-dimensional details of artistic jewelry by Dorota Mielcarek-Widełka, a Konin-based stained glass artist and author of artistic jewelry, privately Adam's wife. Together they form the duo DADAM, complementing each other wonderfully both in private life and in the artistic arena.
Adam Widełka creates his pastels on chipboard or specially prepared cardboard. His own technique of special priming of these boards and cardboards guarantees the durability of his works for hundreds of years, his pastels stored indoors will not lose their color properties and will please the eye of future generations of recipients of Adam Fork's art.
An extremely impressive complement to the artist's works is their framing done by a master in this field, Dariusz Hrybik and employees of his company Almat Art from Katowice.
The artist also does pastel painting on interior and exterior plaster. Exterior paintings are created on fiber cement boards using a unique in-house technique based on the Keim technique, which is resistant to weather conditions. He fixes silicate chalk drawings with potassium water glass on cement boards. In this field he is the only specialist in Poland.
Adam Widełka is the Grand Prix winner of the 3rd All-Poland Pastel Biennale in Nowy Sącz. His works are presented at the largest exhibitions promoting the trends in which he creates. They periodically appear during a series of exhibitions Magical Dreams organized by Bator Art Gallery from Szczyrk. Adam Fork's pastels also appeared during the exhibition "In Search of Beauty" at the Jacek Malczewski Museum in Radom, where works of 26 leading Polish artists from the trend of realism, surrealism, magical realism were collected. In 2021, together with his wife Dorota and her art jewelry (as the duo DADAM), they had a joint exhibition at the CKiS Galeria Wieża Ciśnień in Konin. In the same year, the Cavaletto Art Gallery in Karpacz organized Adam Widełka an individual exhibition of his pastels and their reproductions published by the Art Publishing House "Lux Artis".
Adam Fork's artistic motto:
"A stone that does not roll, grows moss...".
