Adam Setkowicz (1875-1945) received his education under Teodor Axentowicz at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout his life he remained faithful to one main theme - he depicted the life of the Polish countryside, hunting scenes and forest landscapes in his watercolors. Occasionally he painted views of Cracow and other motifs. His realistic genre scenes were distinguished by a distinctive style: a bold painterly stain and the use of ground color as a local color.
