Adam Setkowicz (1875-1945) received his education under Teodor Axentowicz at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout his life he remained faithful to one main theme - in his watercolors he depicted the life of the Polish countryside, hunting scenes and forest landscapes. He also occasionally painted views of Cracow and other motifs. His realistic genre scenes were distinguished by his characteristic style, which was dominated by a bold painterly stain and the skillful use of ground color as a local color.
