Wacław ŻABOKLICKI
1879 Zakrzew - 1959 Warsaw
Studied at the Warsaw Drawing Class (1897-99 with W. Gerson) at the Academy in Munich (1901-03 with K. Marr, A. Abé) and at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. He traveled a lot: he was in Russia (1898), Italy (1901), France (1904-12). He lived in Plock, Russia (during World War I), and later in Warsaw. He painted landscapes, mostly in pastels. Contemporary critics counted him among the school of W. Slevinsky and pointed to the French impressionist pedigree of his art. Since 1922 Żaboklicki was a member of the Circle of Polish Mariners operating at the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts.
