Konrad WINKLER
1882 Warsaw - 1962 Krakow
He began his artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Ignacy Pienkowski. He belonged to the "Formists," with whom he exhibited in the 1920s in Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan and Lvov. He continued his artistic education between 1924 and 1927 at the Lothe Academy in Paris. After returning to Poland, he moved to Warsaw, where he exhibited his works at the salons of the IPS, at the Garlinski Salon, and took part in the exhibition of the avant-garde group "Praesens." An outstanding representative of the "Ecole de Paris", combining the formula developed by Cezanne with elements of Polish folklore. In the post-war period, reminiscences of Formist experience became apparent in his work. Landscapes, views of cities were characterized by compositional simplicity and geometrization of shapes.
