Condition of preservation: loss of plaster of the frame. In the 19th century, in a wealthy and elegant home, an Italian landscape in an opulent frame was a must-have in the decor. They were brought back from journeys, which were usually once-in-a-lifetime escapades, and one wanted to keep its memory forever. The offered painting has all the necessary elements of a 19th-century Italian landscape - a mysterious castle on a seaside rock, cypresses and pine trees in the foreground, with fishermen and stonecutters working for a pittance in the center. There is a nostalgic note in this landscape, but also a bourgeois reflection that even the beauty of Italy does not bear the duty of labor
