Henri Dominique Roszczewski/Henry Roszczewski (19th/20th century)
Precise information about the life of Henri Roszczewski is not known. It is believed that he was born around 1842 and died around 1931, but the exact dates are not confirmed. He was the son of Jan Roszczewski, who was a music teacher, and Magdelaine Joséphine Hérault. He took painting lessons from Émile Maillard. It is known that he participated in exhibitions at the Salons from 1868 onward, which testifies to his activity on the French art scene.
He is described in lexicons as a French artist, but in the Polish press he was portrayed as a Pole. His work consisted mainly of landscapes and still lifes.
Despite little information on the artist's life, Roszczewski's works continue to appear on the art market.
