Erno ERB
1878 Lviv - 1943 Lviv
He lived in Lviv and for a time in Truskavets. He was self-taught, but achieved great proficiency in painting. He drew in pastels, and most often painted oil compositions with rich, thick textures, which critics compared to the paintings of Max Libermann. He painted rural motifs, characteristic types of Ukrainian peasants and Jews, portraits, still lifes and landscapes. In the interwar period, he exhibited at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Lviv and in Warsaw, while in 1929 he took part as an unaffiliated artist in the General National Exhibition in Poznań. His works are in the National Museum in Cracow, the collections of the Jewish Institute in Warsaw, the Historical Museum in Cracow, the Museum of Ukrainian Art in Lviv, and the Lviv Picture Gallery.
