Charles Euphrasie Kuvasseg (Draveil, Essonne 1833 - Paris 1904) was the son of Austrian painter Karl Joseph Kuvasseg. Charles Kuvasseg was a French painter specializing mainly in landscape painting - especially seaside landscapes. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Françaises (where he won a bronze medal in 1892) and the Paris Salon. He received his first education from his father, and later studied under Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Brager (1814-1879) and Eugène Louis Gabriel Isabey (1803-1886). Charles, as a young man, was a sailor, which, along with the influence of the Barbizon School, had a strong influence on his painting.
