Antoni Serbeński (1896 - 1957) is an artist educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he studied painting under Teodor Axentowicz and Leon Wyczółkowski. During the interwar period, he settled in Greater Poland and worked as a teacher of painting and drawing in gymnasiums in Rawicz, Inowrocław and Ostrow Wielkopolski. After moving to Ostrzeszow, he devoted himself entirely to artistic work, painting both local landscapes and still lifes and portraits. He also practiced artistic printmaking. His refusal to paint a portrait of Adolf Hitler resulted in his forced deportation to Germany for labor in 1943. After the war, he returned to Ostrzeszow, where he died and was buried.
