Biography
He arrived in Warsaw in 1891. He earned a living painting portraits and at the same time studied at the Drawing School under Wojciech Gerson. In 1897-1902 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Jacek Malczewski, Leon Wyczółkowski and Jan Stanislawski. In 1900 he was in Paris, where he attended the Academie Julian for a few months, and also visited Belgium, Holland, England and Germany. His art education was supplemented by visits to museums in Europe and the United States. He spent the years 1904 and 1925-27 in Palestine, where he taught at the School of Fine Arts and Art Industry. During World War II he was imprisoned in the Krakow ghetto. He was executed in 1942. He painted mainly landscapes, architectural motifs, interiors and still lifes.
