POLKOWSKI Ignacy - Groby i pamiątki polskie w Rzymie. Dresden 1870; Nakł. J. I. Kraszewski. 4, pp. [4], 84. dustwrapper. pp, covers broch. pasted on binding.
Wraps broch. slightly stained, inside very good condition. Handwritten dedication of the author to Wladyslaw Bartynowski. In the preface, referring the reader to the works of his predecessors, the author writes: "for myself [...] we leave a modest historical contribution, not abundant in historical content, composed of Polish monuments in the churches of Rome, which, as far as I could invent [!], I wrote down, and as a memento of my stay in Rome, I offer as a sacrifice to my countrymen". The PSB reads: "The authorship of the work 'Graves and Monuments [...]' is disputed. According to Fr. A. Slotwinski, it was a collective work of Polish priests residing in Rome in 1864. They jointly found and described the Polish souvenirs preserved in the Eternal City. Polkowski, on the other hand, published these descriptions under his own name." Infrequent.
