J. Kossak (1824-1899) - lover and eulogist of the noble customs and knightly splendor of the First Republic remains one of the most popular and respected artists in Poland. Considered the founder of Polish battle painting and a master of watercolors, he went down in history as an unparalleled painter of horses. The monograph owes its high level of content to Stanislaw Witkiewicz (1851-1915), a painter and prominent art critic.
