STAFF Leopold - Dreams of power. Warsaw 1901; Gebethner and Wolff. 16d, pp. [6], 143. fawn binding.
Obvious rubbing of covers, spine repaired, staining of pages in places. Pencil sketches (quite clumsy) on blank pages. Own stamp. (including the monogram stamp S.J., which has been imprinted many times), own signature. Leopold Staff's debut volume of poetry. The poems were written under the influence of the philosophy of F. Nietzsche, and although they were part of the Young Poland style, they contrasted with its mainstream "affirmation of the value of life and praise of the active man, struggling for his inner quality" (LPPE). Important.
