A work decorated with 50 engravings. Warsaw 1883, Nakł. Author. Printed by Józef Ungra. Folio (43 x 31 cm), pp. 136, numerous woodcuts in the text and on 45 plates, period binding. A striking work, dedicated to Aleksandra Countess Potocka, richly illustrated with woodcuts by excellent wood engravers: J. Jarmuzinski, Jan Styfi, Julian Schübeler, Aleksander Regulski, Bronislaw Puc, Andrzej Zajkowski and others. It contains extensive biographical data on King Jan III Sobieski, his family and prominent Polish personalities of that era, illustrated with reproductions of portraits, views, weapons, insignia, monuments, memorials, epitaphs, coins, medals and seals. The author of the book is Jozef Loski (1827-1885), a historian, publisher, archaeologist, as well as a cartoonist and photographer, associated with the Lublin Land, a contributor to "Kłosy" and "Gazeta Warszawska". Title page in red and black. On the title page a round crest seal with an inscription in the rim: "From the book collection of W.H. Przybysławski". On the dedication page a handwritten inscription from the epoch: "Presented to Wladyslaw Przybyslawski our relative and friend as a memento of the late Jan Zawisha by Marya Zawisha. Warsaw April 1888." Traces of staining and dampstaining. Missing 1 plate, which appears in the inventory: "Armory in Podchorce Chords and Armor from the year 1683". Hardcover, leather with blind embossing and inscription as in the title, 4 metal bumps on the back cover. Binding with strong scuffs and loss of 2 leather fragments on the spine.
