First French edition of the most famous novel by British writer Robert Graves. Written in the form of a pseudo-autobiography of the Roman emperor, Claudius, it is the first part of a dylogy about ancient Rome, portraying the activities of the Julian-Claudian dynasty from the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC to the assassination of Caligula in 41 AD. The book is set during the reigns of successive emperors Augustus, Tiberius and Caligula.
