J. Czapski (1896-1993) - painter, art critic, publicist, prose writer. Co-founder of the Kapists group, editor of the "Voice of the Artists", during the war a prisoner of Starobelsk, he left the territory of the USSR with the Anders army. After the war he settled permanently in Paris.
