Sash of the President of the Ancient Order of Foresters of the Cardiff District.
The Foresters Friendly Society is a British society that was founded in 1834 as the Ancient Order of Foresters. The Society was founded in Rochdale in August 1834, when more than 300 branches of the Society of Royal Foresters (founded in the 18th century) formed a new Ancient Order of Foresters. Green sash with medallion. brass medallion measuring 12.5 x 12.5 cm. On its arms are enameled symbols of the bow, horn, lyre and man. In the center red enamel (with a cavity) on which a brass monogram is superimposed. After the circle on white enamel the inscription: ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS CARDIFF UNITED DISTRICT. The medallion is suspended from a brass chain, composed of interwoven metal plates about 4 cm long. On each of them is engraved the name of the next chairman o once the year of his office. The oldest date dates back to 1903.
