Piotr Rozlucki is an officer in the Russian army, raised by his uncle the general in the spirit of loyalty to the Tsar and Russia. However, his attitude changes when he learns of the tragic fate of his father, an insurgent killed by the Russians, and sees his grave. He decides to return to his Polish roots, but his love for the beautiful Russian Tatiana stands in the way. Piotr has to make a choice...
