"Galician Antiquities" was published from 1838 to 1840 in the form of notebooks, then it was published in one volume [1840]. The main initiator of publishing "Antiquities" was "Pan na Medyka" Gwalbert Józef Pawlikowski, to whom the grateful author dedicated his work. The illustrative material consists of tables made by Maciej Bogusz Zygmunt Stęczyński [1814-1890]. The text includes descriptions of grave monuments, silhouettes of more or less famous historical figures, armor, tools, seals.
ZEGOTA PAULI (Ignacy Pauli) [1814-1895] Polish ethnographer and historian, imprisoned in 1835/36 for contacts with the patriotic conspiratorial organization of Lviv youth. He worked as librarian and conservator of the Potocki archives in Cracow, then at the Jagiellonian Library under the supervision of Karol Estreicher.
