ZAHORSKA PAULY HELENA - reciter, actress. Graduated from the Diction and Declamation Class at the Warsaw Music Society, where she studied with Mieczyslaw Frenkel. She made her debut in 1915 at the Teatr Mały. She then moved to Cracow, where she acted at the People's Theater and the Juliusz Słowacki Theater. From 1919, she was part of the ensemble of Warsaw's Municipal Theaters. In 1933 she began performing at the "Ateneum" theater. She played in several films, including Halka in 1930. She was one of the outstanding actresses, with roles in the so-called "great repertoire" to her credit.
She was valued for her melodious, low voice with beautiful diction, acting talent, and external conditions. During the Nazi occupation, she took part in secret concerts and performances; she was imprisoned for a year in the Pawiak prison. After World War II, she taught at the State Drama School in Cracow, and also performed at the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw. She made records as a reciter of poems and songs.
