Binding damaged, two pages glued in the spine with tissue paper, minor soiling in places, book used with underlining in the text and handwritten notes. Piece complete, needs binding. Owner's signature. Second edition of one of the most significant works in our literature, "among the most important in the process of the formation of both literature and theater in Poland and, in a more general sense, Polish national consciousness in the 20th century." (LPPE). On the cover of the brochure: "Second edition unchanged", at the end the cast of the Kraków and Lviv performances. From the editorial commentary by M. Stokowa to "Collected Works" (Kr. 1967, vol. 15, vol. 1, p. 9): "The title page and other details of this edition, which appeared in July 1901, are no different from the pdr. [it appeared at the end of April or the first days of May 1901]; the message that this is the second edition is placed only on the cover. Other than that, the distinguishing detail is the number of numbered pages and the note on p. 229: 'Played at the Lviv theater for the first time on May 24, 1901 with a cast of roles as follows ---' - the cast list of the Lviv premiere is given here."
