Sir Nathaniel Wraxall (1751-1831) traveled through Europe after working with the East India Company, moving in noble and diplomatic circles. The present work, which takes epistolary form, reflects his impressions of the European courts he visited in the late 1770s. He describes the reign of Frederick II and cites many anecdotes and information about him. He describes his journey through Olomouc and Cieszyn, the destruction of Krakow. He visits and admires the Wieliczka mine, and then describes Warsaw, to which he devotes 132 pages in the second volume. Rare.
