History of the Polish-Russian War of 1831, written by Marian Brzozowski (1803-1876), lieutenant of the Polish artillery and cavalier of the Order of Virtuti Militari.
"Brzozowski deserves attention as an outstanding historian of the Polish-Russian War of 1830/1. His work was published first in French (1833), soon in German (Dresden 1838), then that year in English translation by Leon Szadurski, and only in Lviv in Polish in 1861. Brzozowski's lectures, which were objective, direct, frank and professional, caused the Germans to immediately introduce his book as a textbook for officers' schools. Prądzyński wrote of Brzozowski that he showed one of all writers on this war a true concept of war from a higher position." (PSB, vol.3/1937)
There are 3 pieces in the public collection (identified as unique in the Kórnik Library). None of the surviving pieces of edition 1 have the maps mentioned in the title. The maps were not added until a year later in the second edition (failure to complete? perhaps only the title page was changed?).
Rare, in this edition unique!
