"Chorale" by Kornel Ujejski was written under the influence of the tragic events of 1846 - the so-called "Galician Robbery". It gained great popularity already during the Spring of Nations. For many years it served as the national anthem. "Chorale" was dedicated to a series of illustrations by, among others, the painter Jan Styka.
