Julian Tuwim and some of the most beautiful and well-known works of children's poetry i.e. Locomotive, Turnip and Bird Radio.
Each of the tales is a combination of fun and humor. The poems have gained great popularity not only in Poland. They have been translated into many foreign languages such as German, Czech, English, Russian and just French.
The French edition was presented the same year as the first Polish edition - in 1938. The author of the faithful translation was Paul Cazin (1881-1963), a French translator, writer and popularizer of Polish literature.
The first edition of Julian Tuwim's poems appeared in "Wiadomości Literackie" in 1936. The edition prepared by J.Przeworski Publishing House appeared two years later with wonderful illustrations by the Lewitt - Him partnership, although it is worth noting that neither Jan Lewitt (1907-1991) nor Jerzy Him had experience in illustrations for the youngest. The beautiful, multicolored drawings and their innovative use even interacted with the text, which definitely contributed to the great success of the publication. The book due to its momentum; multicolored illustrations which required the preparation of separate stencils for each color and black was very expensive and time-consuming. The technique of photochemigraphy was used to prepare the plates, which in turn were made by the Borkenhagers of Lodz. Offset printing by Warsaw's Technograf Graphic Works.
The brilliant edition was very enthusiastically received, which prompted the publisher to look for other markets. In 1938, the book in French translation was published by the Paris-based Editions Arts et Metiers Graphiques, which published a magazine devoted to graphic design under the same title.
The French-language version is, in terms of layout and form, a repetition of the Polish edition, which is not surprising given that the edition was printed in Poland, as evidenced by the mention on the back of the title page of IMPRIME EN POLOGNE.
