Description:
"Fulfilling the duty of the executor of the will of the late John Turkul, and wishing to fulfill his wish, expressed in the introduction, of his remaining memoirs to communicate such to his relatives, in order to facilitate this task, we publish them in print. This memoir, written down by the hand of an 84-year-old man who lived through almost the entire 19th century administering vast! estates throughout almost the whole of Volhynia, living a life that was unusually busy and industrious, being in relations with the most prominent representatives of society, may not contain momentous facts of more general significance, but it does contain a great deal of detail from the moral and economic existence of Volhynian landowners, and as a result, not for the relatives of the deceased alone, may be, not without interest." (From the publisher)
Jan Turkul (1800-1892). The book contains a pasted-in photograph of the author (perhaps the only surviving one!), a likeness of his signature and a wax seal of the Ostoja coat of arms (the Turkul coat of arms).
Very rare!
