Very good condition. Monogram stamp, inventory notations. Two consecutive volumes of a legal and political periodical published successively in Frankfurt n. M., Leipzig and Nuremberg. In the first, a portrait of Danish Crown Prince Christian on a panel, in the second - of Tsarina Catherine. The volumes contain a two-part collection of materials on the so-called Toruń tumult: v. vol. 45 "Caput XIV. Von dem zu Thoren zwischen denen dasig Evangelisch- und Catholischen bey vorgeweister Procession entstandenen Tumult, darauf erfolgten Execution und desshalb weiters eclatirten considerable Vorgang" (pp. 589-645), in vol. 46 "Caput XV. Fortsetzung des XIV. Capituls vorherigen Theiols von dem was in Thornischen Affaire zeithero weiters passiret" (pp. 619-657).
Torun Tumult - "the events of July 16, 1724 in Torun, when there was a riot between local Protestants and Catholics, ending with the demolition of a Jesuit college by Protestants. In response to this event, an assessor's court appointed by King Augustus II sentenced 9 Protestant participants in the incidents and 2 Protestant mayors of the city to death, which caused a strong outcry abroad and a serious diplomatic crisis" (Wikipedia).
