From the foreword by Wł. Skoczylas: "Among our graphic artists practicing exlibris, one of the most serious places is occupied by Jozef Tom. Born in Warsaw, he began his artistic studies in his hometown, later supplementing them in the field of graphic design in Berlin. [...] The style of Jozef Tom's exlibrises characterizes well for us that era of the development of our decorative art, in which Polish artists, wishing to give their works the characteristics of national distinctiveness, drew motifs from old Polish architecture and Polish folk art."
