[SZYMBORSKA Wisława]. Handwritten letter by Wislawa Szymborska (also signed by Kornel Filipowicz) decorated with the writer's own handwritten "pastedown," with a preserved envelope, addressed to Danuta Herbert-Ulam in Paris, dated. December 14, 1987 in Cracow.
Sheet of stiff paper form. 10.3x14.8 cm. On one side pasted over a snowman cut out from a magazine, holding a fragment of a dreambook explaining the meaning of the dream "to see a comet with a long tail". On the back a handwritten letter containing greetings, questions about health and about the possible arrival of the addressee in Cracow. Under the text signed "Vislawa" and in another hand "Kornel" (Filipowicz). Next to the text pasted 6 excerpts from the same sleeper, on colored backings. In this way Szymborska informs what one can expect when seeing a carp, a silkworm, a capon in a dream, as well as what it means to "have eggs in a dream." Preserved original envelope with stamp, postmark and return address of the sender. The addressee of the correspondence is Danuta Herbert-Ulam, cousin of Zbigniew Herbert, wife of prominent physicist Juliusz Ulam, cousin brother of Stanislaw Ulam, co-inventor of the hydrogen bomb. Very good condition.
