First German edition of a rare historical study by the most important Russian playwright of the 18th century on the uprising of the riflemen (the first edition in Russian was published in 1768). The revolt of the riflemen in 1682. - An uprising of Moscow's rifle regiments, which resulted in the rapid rise of Sophia Alexeyevna, who was to hold undivided power in Russia for the next seven years. The reason for the revolt was the rivalry between the families of the two widows of the late Tsar Alexei, seeking to achieve influence at court. The author describes the event from the point of view of Peter the Great's supporters and in sharp opposition to the regent Sophia. The offered work was translated by a German historian, Christian Gottlieb von Arndt, who managed Tsarina Catherine's post office from 1772.
