He described the Hutsul village and daily life there, traditional crafts, rituals and customs (weddings, instruments, dances, songs, funerals), the Orthodox church, in detail about the rich ritual year, legends, tales, beliefs, healing, etc., extensive factography, the whole richly illustrated with excellent illustrative material, including photos. from nature. In a few places partly blurred, pale ownership marks (library doublet), in vol. 1 damaged margin of p. IX (without harm to text), otherwise very good condition.
