Jan Stoberski (born May 16, 1906 in Czarna Wieś near Cracow, died May 27, 1997 in Cracow-Prokocim) - Polish prose writer. He was the son of Jan, a court clerk, and Maria (née Mazurkiewicz), a worker at the "Cigar Factory," a Krakow tobacco factory. He interrupted his education at the Fifth State Neoclassical Gymnasium due to an eye disease in 1926; after completing the seventh grade, he worked as a clerk and transcriber of records, later as a merchant. In 1943 he was deported to Bavaria for five months for forced labor. He made his debut as a writer in 1955 in the weekly "Literary Life" with his short stories Love Etudes. He was a contributor to several Krakow magazines (including "Przekroj"). In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he was associated with the Muszyna poetry group.
