SIUCHNIŃSKI Mateusz - Gazeta Tysiąclecia. Warsaw 1966. ed. of the Ministry of Defense. 4, s. 202, [2]. Orig. fawn. binding, wraps.
Slight edge tears to the wraps, very good condition inside. Attached is an additional pre-title page from another piece with the author's handwritten dedication. History of Poland in the form of short texts from a daily newspaper. Numerous illustrations in the text. In a short preface the author warns: "Do not let 'Gazeta Tysiąclecia' be read by white heads, for they are shy and unfit to learn about history as well as to deliberate on public matters in general." The book was published in the millennium year, celebrated by the Church as the millennium of Poland's baptism, and by the communist authorities as the millennium of Polish statehood. Here, only a small note at the bottom of the page was devoted to the baptism of Prince Mieszko I. This publication presents the history of Poland from the first to the end of the 17th century; the announced further books never appeared.
