Grefkowicz 4208. minor stains, good condition. Own stamp. Printed "1. thousand" on title page. First edition of one of Sienkiewicz's most widely read novels for young people. The first edition was published in episodes in "Kurier Warszawski" from October 1910 to September 1911 and almost simultaneously in several other periodicals. The book edition appeared in December and by the middle of the month had reached a circulation of 5,000 copies. It was written at the time: "'Desert and Wilderness' in Warsaw is not spreading, but is flying like no other book." The book was equipped with a booklet cover with a colorful composition by P. Stachiewicz (lion on a rock). Binding by Mille Arte (sticker on back cover).
