Binding: leather, richly decorated, signed "Buchbinderei, Hubel & Denck, Leipzig"' on frontispiece multicolored composition with numerous gildings, with portrait of the Author and image of lyre - an attribute of poetry - and titulature on golden background surrounded by floral border. Portrait of the Author in woodcut on thick cardboard, very numerous woodcuts in the text, including full-page woodcuts. First complete edition of Schiller's works. Includes: vol. 1: "Poezye", "Semele", "The Robbers", "Fiesk's Genoese Conspiracy", "Intrigue and Love", "Don Karlos", "The Spanish Infanta"; vol. 2: "Wallenstein", "Marya Stuart", "The Virgin of Orleans", "The Bride of Messina", William Tell". b. good condition. Minimal rubbing of the leather on the edges of the spine, in the first volume a brown cloth tape stuck between the face of the binding and the cover, small scratches on this cover. A nice piece. Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (1759-1805) - German poet, philosopher, historian, aesthetician, theater theorist and playwright, representative of the so-called Weimar Classics, author of "Ode to Joy".
