Franz Xaver R (1783-1852), officer, known as a military writer. Initially he served in Prussia, then in Baden, while in 1808-1812 he took part in the Spanish War. He is the author of several valuable books of a military nature, the most important of which is a comprehensive account of the entire war in Spain, subtitled: "The Seven Years' Struggle on the Pyrenean Peninsula in 1807-1814", this work is also partly of a personal nature; the addition to the title reads: "Especially my own experiences in this war with remarks on the Spanish country and nation.". Uncorrected rubbing of the binding, own signatures, on the front pastedown, yellow spots on the pages in places, and unpaginated. Good condition.
