[REYMONT Władysław Stanisław]. Handwritten one-page letter from Władysław Stanisław Reymont to Kamil Munkiewicz (nephew), dated. July 8, 1925 in Kołaczków.
One-page letter on ark. 20.7x13.3 cm, next three pages blank. Reymont thanks for the letter with the date of the wedding of the sender, Kamil Munkiewicz (son of the writer's sister, Kamila Munkiewicz). Unfortunately, the writer will not be able to attend the ceremony due to his deteriorating health. He writes: "My illness constantly, constantly shackles me and does not allow for any free movement. Not even a day can I go out into the garden! It wearies me and already discourages me to the rest of my life" (the writer died on December 5, 1925). Later in the letter he gives advice to his nephew: "Marriage is a great thing and wonderful and blessed if people are matched and know how to give way to each other in everyday trifles. It is necessary in marriage to come as far as friendship." The writer ends the letter with the note: "May this check make things a little easier and help you" (the check has not survived). Traces of folding, minor rubbing on the folds, folding of the lower edge of the blank page.
W. S. Reymont (1867-1925) - considered "one of the most outstanding and important writers in the history of Polish literature" (Wikipedia), winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature for 1924.
