The most beautiful Polish edition of Prus's monumental work, valued by collectors for its extremely impressive illustrations by J.Holewiński, binding in Art Nouveau style.

Jozef Holewiński was one of the most prominent Polish wood engravers, art director of Tygodnik Ilustrowany, he was involved in painting and drawing sporadically. The series of drawings for this edition was his painting magnum opus.
