A work by Matthew Praetorius of Klaipeda, first published in 1685, dedicated in print to, among others, Pope Innocent XI and John III Sobieski. A theological treatise by a Lutheran, then Catholic clergyman, dedicated to the unity of the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. In it, the author "exhorted Protestants to reconcile with the Roman Church. Even before the work was published in print, Praetorius shared its manuscript with Protestant theologians he knew [...] he did not, however, find approval for his views from them [...]. 'Tuba pacis' was met with numerous replicas [...]. Also from the Catholic side, Praetorius' call for ecumenical reconciliation of the faiths was not greeted kindly. In 1687 the book was placed on the index, while in 1701 a polemical response to it was published, written by the provincial of the Order of Discalced Carmelites for Poland [...] Waclaw Głuchowski" (PSB).
