Moralia - "a collection of poems by W. Potocki, numbering over 2,100 works, written between 1688 and 1694. The author was inspired by the 'Adagia' of Erasmus of Rotterdam, a collection of Latin proverbs commented on by Erasmus, first published in 1500 [...]. The 'Moralia' [...] include expressions of respect for the traditions of antiquity, but above all criticism of the Church and Polish society in the Baroque era. Potocki presents an apocalyptic picture of modern times, as well as grim visions of the future. He advocates strengthening the power of the king, which would equate to weakening the power of the nobility. 'Moralia' is characterized by pessimism and harshness of judgments. 'Moralia' was not intended for print. They were published only in 1915-1918, in three volumes [...]. Potocki did not make his work available to readers because he did not believe he could convince them of his reasons" (Wikipedia).
