St. Catherine's Church was the most numerous Catholic parish in St. Petersburg. It was the focal point of Polish life in the tsarist capital, led by the activities of two gymnasiums: a female and a male one. The book contains recollections and articles by 40 graduates and teachers on school life, as well as the history of the gymnasiums and St. Catherine's Church, at which they were established. Many of those who wrote constituted the elite of the reborn Polish state, such as Gen. Jan Jacyna (1864-1930), Prof. Stefan Batory Univ. Rev. Czeslaw Falkowski (1887-1969) and Prof. Polit.
