Cont. issues 1-22 (several issues combined). Each issue vol. 16-24 s. The first volume (consisting of the first two annuals) of the first Polish independent scouting magazine, founded by Aleksander Malkowski. Subsequent issues opened with an elaborate title vignette. M. Miszczuk described it as follows: "Here, against [...] the background of Giewont, two scouts, one of whom holds a banner with the inscription 'Czuwaj', are gazing at an equestrian hussar, a symbol of Polish military might. They will be his successors! The author of the vignette was probably Jerzy Grodyński" (Miszczuk I, p. 25). "The first issues, edited and mostly filled by A. Malkowski, were excellent propaganda material; printed partly on tissue paper, they were smuggled to the other partitions, becoming the leaven of the scouting movement. The 'Scout' very accessibly, often by means of storytelling, showed what scouting was, and brought articles showing how to establish troops and squads [...]. Patriotic themes were present in 'Scout' all the time" ("Lexicon of Scouting," War, 1988, p. 426). The offered yearbook contains 5 issues printed on tissue paper. The magazine was published in 1911-1921 (with a break for the years of the First War) and 1923-1939.
