Cover slightly rubbed, otherwise good condition. Piece comes from the family collection of Jan Antoni Danielski (1884-1948) - collector, since 1918 teacher at the 1st St. Konarski Classical Gymnasium in Rzeszow, honored in 1937 with the title of "gymnasium professor" by the Minister of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment. Gilded titulature on spines - numeral 2 bears volume with coat of arms plates, numeral 1 bears volume with explanatory text. In the volume with the text at the end bound together: "Numismatic and Archaeological News", vol. 5, r. 17, no. 2 (66): 1906, pp. [410]-447 with Wiktor Wittyg's article "Seal marks (gmerki) of the bourgeoisie in Poland in the 16th and the dawn of the 17th century, continued." On the last nlb 21 pages, a series of lists of "Coats of Arms known only by name" with a request to send drawings with proofs. On the last page, "List of coats of arms unknown to the letter S". In lieu of title pages, covers of pp. 1-2, provisional. Published in notebooks since 1897. unfinished work contains likenesses of 3,664 coats of arms (up to Syrokomla VIII) and explanatory text to the Sylm entry. In later years, the "Herold" continued to publish plates for the "Book," ended on the Szarfenberg coat of arms; the text was not continued."'The Book' is an informative guide that is still irreplaceable today. [The author] covered with his research the territories not only of the former Republic of Poland, but also of Silesia, Western Pomerania, Courland" (PSB).
