[A religious manuscript in Polish]. Manuscript of "Dulce melos. Ore Mortalium Immortali Deo Ad Cumas Bestecmiticas Promulgatum Sam vero in Mariano Carmeli Monte Ad inventum & Collectum Anno Domini 1781 D. 8 Martij" with later additions.
Manuscript largely in Polish on 196 pages form. 9.7x15 cm (pagination: 111, [25], 51, [9]). The text written carefully, without corrections or deletions, by one hand, if not counting a few later additions. The main part of the manuscript is the text of Polish Christmas church songs numbered consecutively from 1 to 78 (pp. 1-111), followed by several songs without number (e.g., Song of the Purgatory Souls, Song of S. Stanislaw Kostka, Song on Psalm 29, Ruthenian Song - on unnumbered pages), and then "Songs rozne tak nabozne iako tez y Swiatowe" numbered from 1 to 32 (pp. 1-51). At the end a list of songs (the order of the pages rearranged by the bookbinder). Sample songs: Angel to the Shepherds spoke, Apocalyptic Lamb lying in gold, Ah poor gold, Iezus Malusienki lezy nagusienki, Heavenly Maietstatu Lord, At oney Valley in Judaea Land. In the final part also patriotic songs, such as: Piesni konfederackie pobudzające do bronienia Wiary S., Praw y Wolności Oyczyzny, Marsz Polacy wraz do broni. Between the old songs newer ones were added: "Two patriotic carols of the year 1896 sung in Lviv" (e.g.: Lulajże Jezuniu, zamknij powieczki, / Because today without shepherds your sheep. / Priests in Siberia, lulajże lulaj, / Poland, Ruthenia and Lithuania Mother cuddle) and "Carol sung in 1981 to the tune of God is born" (Comfort Jesus the weeping country, / Sow the seed of truth in hearts. / Give Thy strength to those who fight, / Bless Solidarity"). An expertly restored copy, in a new leather binding stylized (successfully!) to look like an 18th century binding.
