A beautiful literary storytelling, drawing on a broad historical background the profiles of the most famous figures of 18th century Italy, such as Casanova, Carlo Goldoni, Pietro Metastasio, Alfieri and Countess d'Albany, Canova. Monograph by Kazimierz Chlędowski (1843-1920), historian, politician, novelist. Artistic binding by Franciszek Joachim Radziszewski: wide half-leather, six-panel spine, with gilt and embossed apple and floral elements, titulature in one field. Cloth underlined in gilt, marbled boards. Binding signed in blind with monogram on back face and large medallion with monogram on front face. Soiling and rubbing of the binding, discoloration of the paper in places, otherwise good condition.
