A new series on the Old Town. Eighteen etchings by Tadeusz Cieslewski Son. Published by Jakób Mortkowicz. (28 x 21 cm), [4], 71, [5], 18 etchings on separate plates, binding, gilt on front and spine.
Circulation. 700 numbered copies, offered copy no. 257 (on woodfree paper). Etchings accompanied by the author's and publisher's marks (remarques), were made on copper according to the artist's own drawings. One of the two most beautiful books about Warsaw published in the interwar period (the other is "Legends of Warsaw" by Ewa Szelburg-Zarembina, published in 1938). Artur Oppman's poems extol the beauty of the Old Town, while Cieślewski's atmospheric views of the Old Town were favorably received by critics, and the book was awarded at the 1931 International Book Exhibition in Paris.
